I have had a few occurrences of this happen to me @ the local gym where I go. A tell-tail sign when you have overdone a regimen is when your eyesight starts to go. What I mean is when you literally start seeing red. The 1st tie it happened to me, my friend luckily saw the signs and quickly gave me her water bottle, then helped me over to the pool and had me go into the 3' side clothes on. I sat there for nearly a half hour until I felt normal again. It just goes to show, it is definitely not related solely to the weather: Remember to monitor yourself when you work out and always stay hydrated.

I wonder if this will help me avoid any heat related problems when I go the the Caribbean in March. I've never had heat exhaustion but I don't deal with heat nearly as well as I used to. Thanks for the information.

I'm pretty happy about that, too, because ice water is heavenly when you are really hot!

Readable and useful post. Had heard (the apparent myth, we now understand) that drinking ice water when one is very hot can be detrimental to good health... disabused of that thought now.

Jenn - Believe me, I know! I live in Central Florida where it has been in the 80's for well over a month now, but I still like to get outside and exercise.

It's good to have these types of tips to keep us all from overdoing it and endangering ourselves in the name of fitness! :)
